"The Australian Learning and Teaching Council is working hard to identify the way forward for its suite of programs, in the wake of the Federal Government’s recent closure announcement.
ALTC Chief Executive Dr Carol Nicoll said the organisation’s first priority is to inform the sector about which of the grants, awards, citations and fellowships programs will accept applications this year.
“We realise that many individuals and teams are midway through preparing submissions to the ALTC for project funding, fellowships, citations and award nominations. We certainly don’t wish these efforts to be in vain and ask the sector to please bear with us while we ascertain if it is still possible to run these programs in 2011,” she said.
Also being examined are the implications for funded projects that are not due to be completed until after the ALTC’s slated closure in December this year.
“Rest assured we are doing everything in our power to ensure that the incredible work carried out by recipients of ALTC funding will have an enduring legacy.”
Dr Nicoll expects to be able to advise the sector about the ALTC’s 2011 operations by the end of February...Read more
